Online Marketing For Small Business | Flame Blog

In general, a great slogan will define the philosophy, concepts or operations of a business. Think about how "Just do it" defines Nike's philosophy on playing sports, or Avis's "We try harder" defines customer services operations. When trying to craft a marketing slogan for your physical therapy practice, start with the message you want to convey to the public before tackling the creative side.

Once you know what you want to convey, aim for short, sweet and catchy. These are the hallmarks of successful slogans and taglines that are an integral part of any branding package, and this is also true for a physical therapy marketing slogan. In fact, the American Physical Therapy Association has implemented a new branding campaign that incorporates the slogan "Move Forward: Physical Therapy Brings Motion to Life." This is a unifying call to all physical therapists to re-focus their branding campaigns as a community.?

The goal of the slogan is to change the public mindset that the benefits of physical therapy are limited to rehabilitation. The slogan directs consumers to connect physical therapy with motion and life, which broadens its potential for preventative uses: life improvement via physical motion.

Here are some key branding messages from APTA's "Brand New Campaign" that will guide you in thinking about your own marketing slogan:

* Physical Therapy can improve mobility and quality of life without surgery or prescription drugs.

* Many PTs have the most specialized education to help restore motion.

* Many PTs are doctors of physical therapy and all of them are trusted health care professionals with extensive education in diagnosing and treating conditions that limit the body's ability to move and function in daily life.

* PTs can teach patients and clients how to prevent or manage a condition, and thus achieve long-term health benefits.

* Consumers in most states can make an appointment with a PT directly, without physician referral.

Once you have decided on a message that best represents your service, identity or philosophy, write several marketing slogans that you think might reflect your message. Catchy slogans are sometimes created with one or more of the following:

* Rhyme and repetition: "Flick my Bic"

* Double-meaning: "Reach out and touch someone"

* Visual connection to logo or business: "Fill it to the rim with Brim"

* Cause and effect relationship: "Calgon, take me away"

The most important elements of a slogan or tag line are simplicity, and connectivity: it should be universally understood regardless of a person's age, gender, background and education. Here are some examples of marketing slogans that reflect a specific message about each practice:

"Journey, Success, Relax, Looking Forward"

"Restoring Your Good Health"

"Going beyond your symptoms..."

"Be treated like a pro!"

"The treatment you need, the care you deserve"

"No pills, no surgery, just results"

"Quality Hands On Care"

"Maximum HEALTH"

"The art and science of wellness"

An unforgettable physical therapy marketing slogan will ultimately reflect the context of your practice while capturing an audience in a creative, simplistic way. Without a contextual connection to the product, slogans are meaningless. So, once you have crafted a slogan that's a home run for your practice, make sure to put it out there on all your physical therapy marketing materials to create your brand and grow your practice.

I know you?ve had this one a million times, but I?m pretty impressed with this communities results. I guess many minds can come up with better solutions than one small (really small) brain.
I would like to start an online marketing business that focuses on small, struggling businesses that don?t understand the Internet and how to make it work for them. I do the office/marketing management for the family business and it was the same situation for them, so I designed their website and gave their online presence a kick in the butt. Now I want to do that for other small, mom and pop businesses in the area.
But it seems like every name I come up with, is taken. Small Fish Marketing Solutions: Helping the little fish grow in a big pond? TAKEN. Cornerstone Marketing? TAKEN. Click Factory, Revvup Marketing, Marketing Mechanic? TAKEN TAKEN TAKEN.
I wanted a creative name ever since I ran into Orange Soda: Marketing with a Fizz, and sunk down into my chair with envy. But now I don?t know. My target market won?t understand a name like that, so I?m thinking about going with something more direct and easily communicates how I can help them create a great online presence, grow their business, gain visibility, get website hits, track their customers, etc.
    Any ideas?
I like what you came up with Nate, especially the Small Town Big Web one. I don't know yet if that's what I want to go with, but that's definitely the type of name I'm looking for. If you think of anything else on those lines, please share. I was also thinking about Small Fish Big Hooks, but wonder if the owners of Small Fish Marketing or Little Fish Marketing can cause a fuss or not.

  6. QUESTION:
What is the best way to market a small business for free online?
    • ANSWER:
"If you build it, they will come" is not necessarily true on the Web. Putting a website up is one thing, but getting visitors to come to your site is another. The process becomes even more difficult if you have limited resources to market your business.
Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:
      1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement - if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.
      2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important -- and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more - that's additional traffic that you get for FREE!
      3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.
If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm
      4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as 0 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News. My website (see my profile) accepts free press release submission (no strings attached!)
      5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.
      6. Improve your conversion. Getting visitors is one thing; getting them to buy your products is a whole different story. Read the article "10 Ways to Convert Visitors to Buyers" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/072005/conversion.htm for tips on how to improve your conversion rates.

    • ANSWER:
Optimize it locally it ll 100% boost you sales as the fastest growing vertical in search, many people are now starting to recognize the value of local search engine optimization can have on their site traffic. Also known as regional search, it's basically Geo-targeting your audience when they search.
Local search works best for the service provider, or a retailer that has numerous locations. While the search volume won't be as great as a non-regional phrase, the person who reaches your site will be a more targeted visit and most likely ready to convert.
Another happy accident in local search is that for sites that are well optimized may also pick up rankings in mobile search.
So, here's what you need to do in order to rank for local seo:
      * Be sure to have your location(s) full address
      * If you have a regional number, list that as well since some people start with an area code
      * Be sure to include driving directions to your location
      * Use a mapping service to display your location
      * Have pictures of your locations and name them with your street address
      * Make sure your site appears in any regional directory that might be online
      * If you can afford it, get listed in your local yellow pages
      * Place the regions you want to rank for in your page titles
      * Get text links that contain the regional phrase
Most of these techniques are not only common sense, but also good web design. If you're in business, you want people to be able to find you.

I just started a small online business (just from my home) that sells handmade bows. I understand this is a big market and I have a lot of competition but that isn't my concern because my goal isn't to sell a million bows in one day, I just want to start selling to people in general and see where I go from there. Nice website and homemade bows but your URL is really long. I think it should be short and unique so people can remember your site. Also if you want to boost sales start selling on other shopping websites like http://www.amazon.com/ or http://www.ebay.com/. There are millions of people on those sites that would probably love to by your bows. If you want to advertise your stuff online use https://adcenter.microsoft.com/ , so when ever people search for bows your website will pop up in the ads. Hope this helps you!
