Gestational Diabetes ? Pregnancy During Diabetes | Health's Power ...

Planning ahead is important if you want a baby and having type-1 or type-2 diabetes. Diabetes pregnancy needs strict blood glucose control even before pregnancy. If planning for a child, control the blood glucose level near normal for 2 to 3 month before getting pregnancy.

Gestational diabetes risks

Chance of developing gestational diabetes is more if

  • Having family history of diabetes,
  • Prior gestational
  • Gave birth a baby weight more than 9 pounds
  • Diagnosed as pre-diabetes
  • Being over weight or obese
  • Leading sedentary life style.
  • Gestational diabetes test

    Gestational diabetes can be diagnosed with testing for blood glucose level, if it is higher than normal then gestational diabetes is confirmed with other tests.

    Gestational diabetes can be managed easily by smart meals plan, increased physically activity and proper medication or insulin treatment with frequent blood glucose reading as suggested by the doctor.

    Gestational diabetes affects the mother, only after the baby?s body has been formed. So no birth defects, but babies may develop low blood glucose and breathing difficulty.
